"This is a richly researched work, with very specialized documentation about this war within a larger war that makes this so unique. An absolute must for understanding the wider partisan conflicts during the war."
-Amazon Review
"Conquer or Die is a long overdue contribution to Kentucky Civil War studies as well as works on partisan and guerrilla warfare."
Emerging Civil War
"As a writer Lindow demonstrates a well-developed eye for assessing terrain, and he skillfully conveys to the reader the many ways in which the ground affected the course of the battle at Sutherland's Hill. He also possesses a gift for writing clear and meticulously drawn tactical narrative that also proves powerfully evocative in places."
-Civil War Books and Authors
"This is simply a terrific book."

"This former Park Ranger beamed at Lindow’s insistence on 'walking the ground' to gain an experiential understanding of the skirmishes at the heart of the story"
